🛸🛸Canon
This is my "canon page" — a page that slashpages.com describes as "an encapsulation, in list form, of those things that have most shaped you. A sort of annotated bibliography of influences". But the linked IndieWeb wiki page is empty, and the link to the creator is broken. So instead of having any examples to work with, I'm just going to vomit a bunch of media - books, television, movies, music, video games, etc - that has formed the person I am today.
Music
Bloc Party
I came across Bloc Party when I was about 13 and looking for music for Spike/Angel fanmixes. I was obsessed with Spangel at the time, it was my first major ship hyperfixation, and so I had been making fanmixes for every single aspect of their dynamic I saw. I had about 50 different Spangel playlists on the now-defunct 8tracks website. I was deeply deeply unwell.
But anyway, I instantly melted into Kele's voice. My first love was Halo, then eventually I settled my hands around the hips of Better than Heaven. I tore into Silent Alarm and A Weekend in the City and Four (the most recent full-length album at the time). LIstening to Bloc Party became a deep comfort. I don't remember why, but it just integrated into my soul, past Spangel and fandom and body. I saw them once in 2016 and then again in 2025.
I adore them. I live and breathe Bloc Party.
CupcakKe
I discovered CupcakKe in 2017. I was instantly enthralled by the creativity of her lyrics. Yes, her songs are deeply sexual. That doesn't mean they can't be creatively and lyrically genius. Her use of the literary device is masterful. I'll use a few lyrics to show what I mean.
Easy-Bake Oven and this pussy so similar (Similar) Touchin' yo' head, but ain't checkin' the temperature ('Ture) Got the dick on lock like a motherfuckin' prisoner ('Soner) Nut in my pussy hair, that's deep conditioner ('Oner)
[Pre-Chorus] I can make your dick stand up (Are you ready?) Like Statue of Liberty once we fuck (So hard)
[Chorus] Tap the head of the dick, duck, duck duck goose Head of the dick, duck, duck duck goose Get that dick up and runnin' when he fuck this cooch Covered in all my cum, the dick be lookin' like a goose Head of the dick, duck, duck duck goose Head of the dick, duck, duck duck goose Get that dick up and runnin' when he fuck this cooch Covered in all my cum, the dick be lookin' like a goose [Verse 3] Cut the dick off, took it home with me (Chop) 'Cause any dick that long, it belong with me (Yeah) This pussy iconic, yeah, it moan with me (Ah) Put your finger in the hole, come bowl with me Let me brush your pubic hairs while I suck on your cock Get all the cum out your dick, make it go out-of-stock Turn it into a Yeezy shirt when you rip off my top My box already small, it don't need to be cropped Turn double-dutch with yo' balls while I'm jumpin' on your dick (Uh-huh?) Tell your grandma sew my pussy, since you split open my clit (Split it up) Coochie guaranteed to put you to sleep so damn soon Ridin' on that dick, I'm readin' Goodnight Moon
-- Duck Duck Goose
Roses are red, violets are blue All about the head like I'm in beauty school (Uh-huh) I said roses are red, might turn your balls blue 'Cause if it ain't enough spit then my snot comin' through Sex occasion, nipples like raisins I black out on that dick but my cum is caucasian Told me to face it, went down like the basement Don't nut in my hole, I do not want your glazin' Suckin' on that dick made my lipstick slip off (Uh) So can I wear your cum as clear lipgloss? (Uh) Make you work that dick like I'm the big boss (Uh) Call me Serena back and forth with his balls
[Chorus] His dick smaller than my toes Yeah, yes, smaller than my toes His dick smaller than my toes I'd rather ride Squidward nose
-- Squidward Nose
One of my bedbugs, one of my bedbugs ate my pussy And he left bed crumbs, your * in my bed buggin' me for the gushy Riddles ain't that fun but I got a riddle, how my twat really looks tea (Yeah) What's sweet, cream, warm, needs water to form and stays with a bag? My pussy (Mwah) The itsy-bitsy spider crawled in my booty crack (What is this?) Down came the rain when I threw this coochie back (Uh) Out came the buns, then it dried up all the rain But the itsy-bitsy spider drowned in the spot he came (Mm)
-- One Of My Bedbugs Ate My Pussy
CupcakKe was a huge factor in me beginning to accept my sexuality. Through her lyrics I was able to express things I was repressing in every other way imaginable. I'm seeing her live for the first time on October 8!!! 2 days from writing this. I do kind of want to meet her and tell her everything she's done. I bet she'd be fun as fuck to hang with.
Emilie Autumn
Emilie Autumn's music was a huge obsession of mine as a young kid, especially Gothic Lolita and Opheliac just the entire album. It spoke to my soul in ways I couldn't articulate. I was gothic lolita, I was the dead little girl, and I had no idea but I knew everything. Emilie's music cut me open and took out the pain of growing up a trafficking survivor.
Kerli
My very first special interest, Estonian pop singer Kerli Koiv. I got into her around 2010 and I was OBSESSED. I thought about her all the time, listened to her music non-stop, drew her piercings and symbols onto my face and arms. I credit her with helping me get my autism diagnosis.
Ghost Quartet - Dave Malloy
I first listened in 2016, and it shaped my writing going forward from pretty much the first listen. Malloy's writing and Gelsey's voice (really all of their voices but especially hers) are impeccably beautiful. Ethereal. Ghost Quartet is one of the biggest inspirations to my creative work so far.

Television
Babylon 5
I first watched Babylon at age 11 when my dad, a lifelong B5 fan, dragged me to the 20th anniversary panel at Phoenix Comic Con. I slept through the whole thing, unaware of how lucky I was to be in Mira Furlan's living presence (I hold her memory in the Light), and then when I got home I started watching and was instantly hooked.
Babylon 5 became a constant in my life over the years. I would flutter in and out of a Babylon 5 obsession. Susan/Talia helped me discover my lesbianism. Kosh/Lyta helped me discover some other aspects of my sexuality, as well as my former self-ship with Morden. Babylon 5 also brought me to some of the most important people in my life and I am so grateful for it.
It's also, like, an insanely good show. It's another one of those things that has impacted my writing significantly - Babylon 5 is just a piece of my soul.
Doom Patrol (2019-2023)
Ah, yes. Doom Patrol.
I first became obsessed with Doom Patrol in March 2019 and was instantly obsessed to legitimately insane levels. There's a character - the Negative Spirit - who is very minor. I saw their first moments on screen and it was love at first sight - the Negative Spirit was the first fictosexual love of my life, tbh. I fell into a Doom Patrol obsession so deep it literally consumed every aspect of me. I have a Larry Trainor tattoo. I have no words for how deep my obsession was; when TNS was written off in 2021, I had a breakdown so terrible I spent days on the floor crying. I still consider it one of the most important pieces of media to me in my entire life.
Books, Poems, Literature
The Unwind Dystology by Neal Schusterman
I haven't read this one in over uhhh... 13 years, but it touched me deeply as a kid and is partially what radicalized me toward youth rights and activism for the "troubled". It inspired so much of my writing and I was obsessed with it. I remember falling for Risa in a very ficto way...
Little Weirds by Jenny Slate
I found this book at the beginning of the pandemic and it unravelled me. My writing style was shifting massively at the time and I saw so much of myself in Slate's work here - her desire for love, her hunger for it, her pain, her need... it really changed me.
The Orange Eats Creeps by Grace Krilanovich
One of 2 additions to this page I only discovered in 2026. This book is insane and I have no words for it. I wrote about it here and also here, which is basically having words for it.
157 Ways To Tell My Incest Story by Emily Levy
A poem that broke me, and 2/2 out of the additions to this page I discovered in 2026. It can be read here, but heed the warning for incest and sexual abuse of a child.
